“As a Chair, I describe myself as “all-in,” caring deeply for their experience and them personally while driving the member experience forward through accountability and fresh ideas.”
Hello!
A Little Bit About Me
Over the course of my 35-year career in the insurance industry, I’ve established myself as a strong and supportive leader, having built and grown three different companies. My ability to attract and retain the best talent and my long-term vision has ensured that my companies are built to last.
I quickly distinguished myself in the insurance industry when I acquired the brokerage where I was working. From then, I quickly rose to the position of President at Thompson & Co., where I expanded the company organically and through strategic acquisitions to ultimately negotiate a merger with another firm. Subsequently, I immediately embarked on establishing another brokerage business, ultimately merging with Jones Brown. In 2007, I became the President at a leading Canadian brokerage, eventually becoming CEO in 2010.
As a young Entrepreneur, I joined the CEO group of TEC Canada founder, Dr. Lynn Tanner, and remained the longest-standing member until deciding to continue my involvement as a TEC Chair. Throughout my journey with TEC, I have been part of compelling experiences that have significantly impacted the business and personal lives of TEC members. As a Chair, I am fully invested, caring deeply for my members, while driving their experience forward through accountability and fresh ideas.
On a personal level, I reside in Calgary with my wife, son, an two stepchildren. I enjoy participating in and watching sports including squash, golf, hiking, and biking. I am a Flames season ticket holder and a devoted Toronto Blue Jays fan. Additionally, I serve on various boards, including the role of President of my Rotary Club and Chairman of the Calgary Parks Foundation. My educational background includes a BA (Honours) from the University of Toronto, a CIP designation, and a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University.
