Rob Van Wely

TEC Canada CEO Chair
Hamilton and Niagra, ON

“Even the most capable of CEO’s can experience a sense of isolation, which can potentially hinder top performance. Honest feedback is part of what a TEC group offers a leader but most importantly, he or she will be offered reassurance and a strong sense of support.”

Professional

Rob brings more than 25 years of public company and chief executive experience to his role as TEC Chair. With a demonstrated ability to build best-in-class organizations and lead and execute winning business strategies, Rob is passionate about helping other leaders achieve business goals and personal success.

His background as President of Global Vintners, and previously as CFO of Andrew Peller Limited, has given him in-depth experience in the challenges and successes of growing business from medium to larger-sized enterprises. As President of Global Vintners, Rob led the company`s growth from $35 million to $65 million in annual sales. He effected the completion of four acquisitions, established a multi-channel distribution strategy and developed an organization that was considered an Employer of Choice. In so doing, he established Global Vintners as the global leader in personal wine-making products and services, while positioning the company for continued success.

“Even the most capable of CEO’s can experience a sense of isolation. Honest feedback is part of what a TEC group offers a leader but most importantly, he or she will be offered reassurance and a strong sense of support.”

As a TEC Chair and Executive Coach, Rob is committed to helping business leaders gain new ideas and fresh perspectives, uncover new opportunities, and move forward with confidence. He is excited to share the perspective of a director, the experience of a CEO and the passion of a business owner with fellow chief executives.

Rob’s own positive experience as a TEC group member for 8 years was a key factor in his decision to accept a TEC chairmanship. He is part of the wider TEC community whose members represent nearly $50 billion in annual revenues and over 100,000 employees; a demonstration of TEC’s ability to advance Canadian business and lift our nation’s prosperity.
