I am a passionate changemaker who believes true leadership is guided by integrity, accountability, compassion, perseverance and authenticity. I espouse leaders like Nelson Mandella and his many convictions including, “Do not judge me [or others] by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”
I successfully led several organizations, and tripped many times along the way. My most recent venture was founding and leading Profoundry, a collective group of organizations, including Delphi, GLOBE, CBSR and Leading Change Canada, which are all dedicated to building a more sustainable, prosperous and social just future. Over three decades, my team and I have supported hundreds of organizations – including more than half of Canada’s top 100 firms – develop and implement strategies that enhanced productivity, drove profitable growth and at the same time reduced their environmental impact. I am passionate and committed advocate, particularly for youth, and actively engage, mentor and empower current and future leaders who are passionate about making a positive difference.
In my Chair role at TEC, I strive to collaborate with humble, hungry and smart people who are:
• Dedicated to continuously learn about themselves and grow professionally and personally
• Committed to be authentic leaders at work and/or in their community
• Inspired to improve and enhance the lives and success of others, and
• Strive to find balance, joy and meaning in both their work and personal lives.
On the personal side, I love being in nature, especially the mountains, and stay physically active – working out, skiing, playing golf, hockey, and many other activities. I have also had the privilege to travel to more than 35 countries, including New Zealand where I met my beautiful wife of now 30 years. We have two amazing adult children and two dogs. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Queens University and a Masters of Environmental Engineering from McMaster.
