From Vision to Exit: How TEC Canada Helped Jenny Faucher Scale with Purpose and Exit on Her Terms

When Jenny Faucher founded Managing Matters more than 20 years ago, she wasn’t trying to follow industry norms. She saw a gap and built something different..

“There were antiquated ways of doing things. My vision was to do things more efficiently, with talented staff who were particularly specialized for our client needs.”

That vision grew into Managing Matters, now one of Canada’s leading association management companies. Built on a commitment to long-term strategy and growth, the firm became known for helping associations thrive through deep-rooted, results-driven partnerships. In 2025, Jenny sold Managing Matters to Association Headquarters, a U.S.-based association management company, looking to expand their strategic presence in the Canadian market as part of their broader global expansion.

Today, she is focused on international growth as part of AH’s executive team. She credits TEC Canada with helping her lead through critical transitions with clarity and confidence.

Finding Her Circle of Challenge and Support

Jenny joined TEC Canada in 2014 after a conversation with TEC Chair Lindsay McMurray. It wasn’t a sales pitch that won her over; it was a shared mindset.

“It was the executive leadership coach. It was Lindsay’s approach, his values, the way he described the group dynamic, and what I learned about the peer environment. He used the word carefrontation a lot in our group, creating a space where leaders felt safe, but also held accountable. It was about calling people out in a caring way to help them become more effective, impactful, and decisive.”

That dynamic shaped her TEC experience. Over the years, Jenny’s group became a space where she could think clearly, challenge assumptions, and connect with experienced leaders facing similar decisions.

“You develop deep relationships with people who know you so well they’ll call you out when needed. And you know it’s coming from a good place.”

The Push That Made the Difference

At one point, Jenny found herself stuck on a major decision. She knew what needed to happen but hesitated to act.

“I remember a particular quarter when I was dragging my feet. My group didn’t let it slide. They held up a mirror, asked the hard questions, and challenged me. Without that accountability, I might have delayed a critical change that ultimately led to increased culture alignment, which is so critical for us.”

Strategic Thinking with Real ROI

For Jenny, TEC Canada wasn’t just a leadership mastermind group. It was a strategic advantage.

“TEC Canada membership has paid for itself many times over. My group was critical in assisting with important decisions. I had direct access to seasoned entrepreneurs and talented business leaders across industries, who gave me lenses I would not have otherwise had.”

The benefits don’t end with the monthly meetings, one-to-one coaching sessions, and speaker workshops.

“Just recently, someone from my original TEC Canada group presented to my executive team—and it’s probably going to change the game for us again.”

What’s Next

Jenny now leads Managing Matters and Association Headquarters Canadian and international business development efforts. She continues to build partnerships, grow the organization, and stay focused on the purpose that sparked her company from the start.   Her work is dedicated to helping volunteer boards access the tools and guidance they need to strengthen their operations and advance their mission.

“My role is similar to the role I played before, but at a different scale. I’m inspired by the people I work with, and this incredible collective team.  Ultimately, my focus is on working directly with association volunteers to craft customized solutions that make a real impact for their organizations.”

What drives her now is shared momentum.

“It’s inspiring to work around people who are motivated and aligned on a bigger goal. I love learning from others, being open, curious, and hearing new ideas. If you’re closed off, you miss things.”

A Legacy That’s Still Growing

“When I started Managing Matters, I had a vision of a different way to do business in the association management sector. We created a space where great people did meaningful work, where clients felt deeply supported, and where values were upheld.”

That vision hasn’t disappeared. It’s evolved.

“Now that we’ve joined forces with Association Headquarters, an organization that shares our values and vision, this legacy continues with even greater strength. With expanded resources, our clients benefit more than ever. And our team has access to a broader dynamic that allows them to continue doing great work.”

For CEOs on the Fence

“You don’t have time not to be in TEC. The ROI is unbelievable. You can’t even measure it. Taking one day off work each month gives you tenfold the value.”
“The calibre of the groups and the calibre of the wonderful people, that’s what’s kept me in TEC Canada for over 10 years.”
Jenny’s words say it best. Behind every great decision, confident pivot, and successful exit is a moment when a leader paused, reflected, and asked better questions. For Jenny, that happened inside a TEC Canada peer group. It could happen for you, too.
