From Solo Entrepreneur to Strategic Leader: How Cindy Bégin Built a Business That Puts People First
When Cindy Bégin launched TEMISCOM, she had no backup plan, just a vision.
After working for two years as a graphic designer at a relationship marketing agency, Cindy decided to take a leap of faith. She saw an opportunity to serve businesses in a more personalized way, building long-term partnerships rather than one-off projects. What started as a solo freelance venture in her basement quickly grew into something bigger, a creative agency with a growing client base and a reputation for excellence.
But scaling a business came with new challenges. Cindy suddenly found herself not just designing, but leading a team, making complex business decisions, and managing high-level client expectations—all without formal business training.
Cindy’s journey was first shared by TEC Chair Suzie Beaudoin, who captured the heart of TEMISCOM’s early story. This version continues that journey, focusing on how five years with TEC Canada have shaped Cindy’s leadership.

Finding the Right Support with TEC Canada
“In challenging times, or even in all the situations you qualify as normal day-to-day when you’re in charge of your business, you doubt a lot. You constantly question yourself,” Cindy explains. “As if this was not enough, I always have a lot of projects in mind. I’m a machine of creativity, so it’s not easy to make the right choices, to sort it all out. I need to validate with someone and I need to be challenged on my thoughts and ideas.”
That’s when she discovered TEC Canada.
Cindy joined a TEC peer advisory group led by TEC Chair Suzie Beaudoin, where she found a structured space to challenge her ideas, validate key decisions, and gain insight from experienced business leaders who had been in her shoes. TEC Canada wasn’t just about advice, it was about accountability, structure, and real-world problem-solving.
Gaining Clarity and Confidence in Leadership
For Cindy, traditional business coaching never felt like the right fit.
“The problem is, I’m kind of allergic to coaches!” she says with a laugh. “That’s why I joined my TEC group. It’s not the same, and it helps me make the right decisions and actually do what I say I’m going to do, with methods and tools that resemble me, that go with my values, and, at the same time, respect good business practices.”
With Suzie’s guidance and the backing of her TEC group, Cindy refined her leadership approach, ensuring TEMISCOM stayed true to its core value of a people-first company, while also embracing the best practices needed for long-term success.
Building a Business That Stands Out
At its heart, TEMISCOM was never just about design. It was about building lasting relationships. Unlike most agencies, TEMISCOM doesn’t rely on freelancers or outsourced contractors. Everyone on the team is on the payroll. They’re employees, not consultants. This unique model creates stability for her clients, while honouring the commitment and culture Cindy wants for her team.
“I wanted to bond with people, become their ultimate fan, and that’s what happened,” she shares. “I really feel lucky and privileged that this is felt on both sides.”
Her approach worked. TEMISCOM became known not only for its creative expertise but for the way it built deep, trust-based relationships with clients. Many clients, when moving to new companies, continued to work with TEMISCOM, bringing Cindy and her team along for the next chapter in their careers. TEMISCOM also evolved through different work models, from starting in Cindy’s basement, growing into an in-person office, and ultimately transitioning to a fully remote team. But this wasn’t a cost-cutting decision; it was a human one.
“What we’re very proud of,” Cindy says, “is that we don’t just retain companies, we retain people. They bring us with them in their luggage!”
Scaling with Purpose
Today, TEMISCOM is more than just a creative agency. With a growing team and high-profile clients like Solotech, Station Mont Tremblant, and Loto-Québec, Cindy has built a business that reflects her original vision, one where relationships come first.
And, she’s not done growing.
“For a long time, I was making decisions alone,” Cindy reflects. “Now, I have a group of people who help me navigate challenges, push me to think bigger, and remind me to stay true to what I set out to build.”
After five years as a TEC Canada member and with Suzie Beaudoin by her side, Cindy continues to evolve as a leader, knowing she’ll never have to figure it out alone.
