Amar Gandhi thought he had made it…
Back in 2011, he had secured a stable banking job at BMO, a $60,000 salary, and was having executive meetings with VPs—it felt like the definition of success.
“Back then, that kind of salary felt huge,” Amar remembers. “I thought I had won the game.”
Then one day at the gym, his phone wouldn’t stop buzzing. Another sale. And another. His side business was making money while he lifted weights.
“That was my wake-up call. I was sitting in meetings all day for a paycheck when I could be building something that made money 24/7. Banking was safe—but it was a ceiling. I wanted limitless potential.”
So, he quit.

So, he quit.
Here’s what happened next…
Amar had always been a builder. As a kid, he wrote assignments for older students to make extra money. As a teenager, he flipped furniture before Facebook Marketplace existed—picking up discarded pieces, fixing them, and reselling them to people who just wanted convenience.
He carried that mindset into his first real business—Global eBrand—which started by selling iPad cases with his brother. It worked…until their supplier doubled the prices overnight.
“That was a turning point. If you rely on someone else, you’re at their mercy. So I went straight to the source. Found a supplier in China. Cut out the middleman.”
From there, Global eBrand grew.
Then, one e-commerce store became ten, and then a hundred. He built an $80 million real estate portfolio, launched 35 Shopify apps, created a staffing company, and even co-authored 300 AI-generated books with his son.
But scaling at this speed wasn’t easy. Every decision carried weight. Every mistake was costly.
The Turning Point: TEC Canada Membership
By 2019, Amar was running multiple companies—but running alone alongside his brother. He needed to be in a room with people who had built and sustained businesses through market crashes and industry shifts.
“I Googled ‘peer advisory groups’, and TEC Canada stood out. I was at a point where I had built businesses, but I knew there was still so much I didn’t know.
I didn’t want startup advice. I needed to be around people who had been through recessions, hiring crises, and everything in between.
TEC wasn’t about surface-level networking—it was about sitting across from people who had done what I wanted to do, and survived. That’s what I needed.”

By walking into his first TEC meeting, he realized he had just stepped into another level of business thinking.
“These weren’t just business owners; they were industry leaders—visionaries who built nationally recognized brands. A founder who revolutionized the dessert industry, a CEO at the helm of the country’s largest hobby retailer, and others who successfully navigated decades of economic ups and downs.”
For the first time in years, he wasn’t the most experienced person in the room. And that was exactly what he needed.
Scaling Smarter: The TEC Canada Membership Effect
Success brings challenges. Amar’s biggest struggles weren’t just about growing businesses—but doing it in a way that didn’t burn him out.
“Before TEC, I was making every decision, solving every problem, because that’s just how I had always done things. But I was hitting a wall. I remember a TEC meeting where I saw how other leaders ran their teams—truly empowering people instead of controlling everything. That was a game-changer. It wasn’t about doing less; it was about leading smarter.”
His one-on-one coaching sessions with TEC Chair Helen Krapf-Jones pushed him even further.
“Helen tells me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear. She sees my blind spots before I do and connects me with the right people to solve problems before they happen.”
Giving Back: A Leader Among Leaders
As much as Amar gains as a TEC Canada member, he also gives back. His expertise in e-commerce, AI, supply chains, and marketing made him a sought-after voice in his peer group.
“One TEC member wanted to build a team in India. I helped them structure it for efficiency, not just cost savings. Another was struggling with marketing—I optimized their sales funnel, and their revenue jumped 30%.”
Helping others sharpen their businesses became just as fulfilling as growing his own.
What’s Next: The Future of an Empire Builder
The journey is far from over. Amar is expanding his e-commerce brands into high-growth global markets, doubling his real estate holdings, pushing AI into everyday business processes, and optimizing supply chains for faster delivery.
But through all of it, his biggest priority remains his family.
“I used to think business was everything. Now I know, business is just the vehicle—what matters is the people who ride with you.”
Connecting With TEC Members Across the Country
As Amar prepares to attend the TEC Canada National Member Conference from April 3-4, 2025 in Toronto, ON, he sees this monumental event as an accelerator.
“I told Helen—my TEC Chair—we need more of this. TEC Canada membership isn’t just about meetings. It’s about the conversations in between. The unexpected insights. The moments that change how you think.”
He’s looking forward to connecting with TEC members across the country—business leaders who, like him, are committed to pushing boundaries and driving real impact.
“The best part about TEC is that it’s never just about one meeting or one insight. It’s a constant evolution. Every time I think I’ve learned it all, someone in TEC challenges me to think bigger.”
For those considering TEC Canada membership, Amar’s advice is straightforward:
“Some people want to keep doing things the way they’ve always done them. But if you’re the kind of person who wants to keep levelling up—TEC is where you need to be.”

It’s More Than Just Business
At the end of the day, Amar isn’t just chasing revenue—he’s building something bigger than himself.
“When all is said and done, I don’t want to be remembered for my businesses—I want to be remembered for the people I helped, the lives I changed, and the opportunities I created for others.”
For him, TEC is part of that journey. Not just because it’s good for business strategy—but because it’s a place where growth never stops.
