“Work hard, play harder.”
Hello!
A Little Bit About Me
Life, for me, is an adventure as anyone who works with me can attest.I am an ambitious entrepreneur with the reputation of taking on the toughest projects and delivering them successfully. My leadership style is marked by engagement and the ability to turn any situation or enterprise fun- inspired by my philosophy: “work hard, play harder”.
With over 25 years of experience as a director of multi-million dollar projects, I have left my mark on iconic structures like the Whistler Olympic Nordic Venue, the Lion’s Gate Bridge, and the Sydney International Convention Centre. As an entrepreneur, I have successfully built and sold two companies- Mutual Construction, which I grew from $2M to 15M in six years, and Empirica Group, a company I founded and grew to $30M in four years. Along the way, I acquired valuable experience in mergers and acquisitions, partnerships and corporate structure, while growing and positioning my businesses in competitive market niches.
As I thrive on the adrenaline of change and the continuous learning that goes with it, my unique career has always been about pushing the envelope- being an innovator, contrarian, and risk taker (in a calculated way, of course). The peer mentorship I experienced as a TEC member combined with personal executive coaching has taught me the importance of accountability for any ambitious leader or individual. Recognizing the importance of processes to keep individuals accountable, I started mentoring programs within my own company at a time when coaching for employees was uncommon. These experiences have influenced my decision to take on the role of a TEC Chair, contributing to my direct, yet supportive leadership style.
On a personal level, I call Vancouver home, where I live with my wife and three sons. I enjoy being in the mountains and outdoors, spending time with my family skiing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, and indulging in our shared passion for travel.
