Michelle Van Tol has spent much of her career as the trusted advisor to CEOs; providing entrepreneurs with strategic financial advice, negotiating complex transactions and managing relations with directors and shareholders. This results-driven management consultant and CEO coach has a strong reputation for adding value, perspective and clarity in her many roles as CFO.

A Chartered Professional Accountant, Michelle also holds an MBA in Finance & Marketing, as well as her coaching certification from Concordia University and the International Coaching Federation.

Michelle started her career in the technology industry, as a CFO for a number of venture capital-backed companies in which she raised money (over $100 million), managed growth challenges, and successfully sold companies in a fast-paced environment.

For the past 10 years, Michelle has consulted as a CFO and provided broader strategic advisory services to owner-managed corporate clients in a broad range of industries, from construction to consulting services to medical software, through her consulting company Cashia Consulting Corp. and MVT Coaching.

As a former member of a TEC Trusted Associate group for 9 years, Michelle has a deep familiarity with TEC’s process and its typical members, many of whom became her clients over the years. Her experiences have motivated and inspired her to join the TEC Canada community as a TEC Chair, a community whose members represent nearly $50 billion in annual revenues and over 100,000 employees.

TEC Group Vision

Michelle enjoys bringing her analytical insights to mentoring and coaching CEO’s , executives and small business members who are engaged, accountable and focused on a results-driven approach to propelling their business and personal lives forward. “Be clear about what goals you are trying to achieve; execution will be much easier if you are.” While the bottom line is important to Michelle, she will also counsel members to balance profits with people and to balance work with personal time.

Michelle and her husband John have four daughters – Cassie, Cassandra, Allyshia and Alexandra – all in their 20’s, which leads to very lively family get-togethers. She also has a dog, Teegan, who evens out the gender numbers a bit. Michelle draws energy and happiness foremost from her family, but she enjoys cooking, travelling, reading, and many fitness activities.
