Ryan Walter played and coached over 1,100 games in the NHL across 17 seasons, including being drafted second overall by the Washington Capitals, winning a Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens, and finishing his career with the Vancouver Canucks. He was an NHL All-Star, 3-time Team Canada member, World Junior Captain, Vice-President of the NHL Players Association, and inductee into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame. Ryan also coached Canada’s National Women’s Hockey Team to a Gold Medal and has been involved in startups, TV analysis, and acting. Holding a Master’s in Leadership/Business and author of six books, he has spent over 25 years developing leadership, team energy, and high performance in corporate executives and teams.

Ryan’s Topics

Ryan’s interactive TEC presentation focuses on coaching Above-the-Line Energy, exploring key aspects of one-on-one versus group coaching, and why coaching matters. Drawing on his 17 NHL seasons of coaching experience, Ryan introduces his TTM© framework and the impact of Positive People Energy on business dynamics. Topics include coaching credibility and commitment, the Johari Window, assumptions, and generating insights through coaching for AH-HA moments. Ryan also covers the neuroscience behind increased memory and engagement, as well as different types of coaching questions. The session wraps up with Ryan’s 4Pi Performance Coaching Process and how to build a high-energy team culture.
