Shaune Eldred is an experienced entrepreneur and former executive who has first-hand experience with the countless challenges and thrills of growing a small business. This dynamic businesswoman has most recently applied the skills she gained as a small business owner to her newest roles of coach and angel investor in a number of emerging companies.
Shaune founded Athene Offices & Services in 2003, to provide services and high-end furnished office spaces for businesses and professionals. Her entrepreneurial knowledge increased as her business underwent rapid growth. After surviving a serious downturn in the economy, amassing three locations and ramping her portfolio to over 170 offices in over 50,000 square feet, she successfully negotiated the sale of Athene to Regus, a global leader in the sector.
In her 30-year career prior to Athene, Shaune worked in a broad range of industries, developing skills at the employee and the executive level in accounting, finance, audit, admin, HR, and contracts and leases. She was the VP of Corporate Services and member of the executive team for Minerva Technology for 10 years, one of Calgary’s high-tech success stories. Her varied educational background includes majoring in finance, economics, and education, earning her RIA accounting designation, distance MBA courses and training in interior design.
One of Shaune’s many leadership qualities is her ability to listen and encourage others to articulate their issues, a skill she developed over the years as employees, colleagues, and later, clients, sought her out for informal coaching. Shaune has benefitted from the guidance of mentors, including her husband, a successful entrepreneur and former TEC Canada member. She notes that she “has seen many ‘lone wolf’ small business owners who could have benefitted from the resources and coaching TEC provides.” Now, she is choosing to share and facilitate these lessons with small company leaders in her role as TEC Small Business Chair.
TEC Group Vision
Shaune welcomes small business owners who are willing to embrace the process of seeing themselves and their leadership in new ways. She fosters an inclusive, trusting environment that promotes the sharing of honest thoughts and ideas, “in good times and bad.”
Shaune has been married to husband Revett for over 21 years. Together, they share a passion for business, learning, and travel. They are parents to twin daughters (Kristin and Reagan), a son (Robin) and a Great Dane (Sophie). She volunteers for many causes, including her previous role as the Calgary Chair of the Ice Magic Show.
