A Little Bit About Me
Plato’s words, “Necessity is the mother of invention” is often cited by me. Those who can clearly identify their needs and grow to meet and exceed them will succeed as no other.
Since 2010, as a TEC Chair, I have coached business leaders to surpass milestones in both their personal and professional life. With over 30 years of diverse leadership experience across industries such as transportation, financial services, energy, power, professional services, engineering, construction, manufacturing, and education, I have been a trusted advisor and proven leader. I began my career with Accenture (then Andersen Consulting), then joining Western Management Consultants (WMC) in 1991. Serving as the Managing Director for Calgary and subsequently as the National Managing Director at WMC, I implemented strategies that elevated shareholder profitability by 20% while laying the foundation for a major brand refresh of a 40-year-old firm. More recently, I worked as Chief Operating Officer and Brand Builder for a leading building envelope sub-contractor.
My reputation for my courage, integrity, humour, and dedication is reflected not only in my professional roles but also in my service on numerous boards in both the private and public sector. I played a pivotal role as a funding inaugural board member for Westside Recreation Centre, contributing to the transforming this world-class facility, which sees 1.5M visitors per year, from concept to opening day. This project involved securing land and funding, recruiting the Board and Executive Director, and establishing governance policies while developing a business model through strategic planning.
Through my multi-disciplinary skills, I help leaders develop greater insights into their growth needs, empowering them to make informed decisions and achieve superior results. After all, necessity is the mother of invention!
On a personal note, I am an avid golfer, curler, and former soccer coach and player. As a husband and father of three adult children, I find enjoyment in both my personal and professional passions. Additionally, I hold certifications as a Certified Management Consultant from Canadian Association of Management Consultants, Information Systems Professional Isp, ICTP, and PROSCI Certification in Change Management.
