Garold’s Topics

After nearly two decades as a human resource executive, Gary Markle concluded that performance reviews are the “poorest performing personnel practice.” In this interactive workshop, specifically designed for Vistage participants, Markle advocates for abandoning traditional performance evaluations in favor of his more effective system, “Catalytic Coaching.” The workshop provides a comprehensive performance management system aimed at achieving five key business goals: changing behavior, motivating employees, reducing turnover, developing leaders for greater responsibility, and minimizing legal exposure.

In times of uncertainty, business leaders must think strategically, as disciplined execution alone isn’t enough when the future is unclear. With challenges like labor volatility, inflation, logistics issues, and rapid digital transformation, companies must plan for the future using scenario planning. This process involves working with the executive team to define critical uncertainties, creating multiple scenarios, and identifying opportunities and risks. By focusing on scenarios where a strategy is viable across all possibilities, leaders can reduce risk and make confident, focused decisions that drive company growth and exceed expectations.
