A Little Bit About Me
I am an experienced entrepreneur and accomplished business leader. I founded my first company, HansenOttawa, at the remarkable age of 18, a renowned design, maintain, and construction firm based in Ottawa. From the outset, I instilled a culture of caring within HansenOttawa, nurturing an environment that prioritized employee growth and the pursuit of excellence. My unwavering inspiration and dedicated support for my team have been instrumental in the company’s success.
Throughout my career, I have led and owned companies spanning diverse industries, including construction, software, and sales. Serving as President and CEO, I skillfully scaled these businesses from small, tactile teams to thriving organizations with 50 or more employees. My quest for knowledge has ignited a passion for team and employee development, shaping my distinct “people-first” leadership style. Consequently, I have steered my organizations towards achieving numerous awards and establishing a first-class reputation in their respective industries.
My personal and professional journey took a significant turn when I initially joined TEC Canada as a member. Within this supportive community of leaders, I found a team always ready to provide invaluable support and guidance, addressing the intricacies of business and the nuances of personal life. This path led me to accumulate vast experience in buying and selling companies, further fueling my dedication to assisting entrepreneurs and business leaders on their path to success through coaching, mentoring, and steadfast support.
Beyond my entrepreneurial endeavors, I actively contribute my knowledge as a board member for multiple organizations and associations. Now, as a TEC Chair, I leverage my extensive experience to foster an environment of trust, friendship, and growth within my advisory group, ensuring that others can benefit from my expertise and commitment to business excellence.
On a personal note, I was born in Nova Scotia but call Ottawa home. I live with my loving wife and am the proud parent of two incredible adult children. I am a graduate of Carleton University and Edinburgh School of Business and have honed my skills as a master facilitator and executive coach. To recharge my battery, I spend time at my cottage, where I unwind and find inspiration. I am passionate about sports and reading, and I am a perpetual learner, continually pursuing knowledge and insights in every situation.
