A Little Bit About Me
As a lifelong learner with a diverse background in business, I understand the power that positive thoughts, feelings, and actions have on business leaders. At the age of 21, I decided to start my entrepreneurial journey by taking over the family business of farming, after borrowing all the capital I could. Through the challenges and tribulations of operating a business- including surviving the economic downturns in 2001, drought years in 2002, and the 2003 cattle market crash, I have come to view setbacks not as failures, but as valuable learning experiences.
An advocate for the mantra “life is an adventure to be enjoyed”, my professional career has encompassed the callings of a pilot, mayor, councillor, business coach, speaker, and long-time board member of United Farmers of Alberta- a member-owned agriculture co-operative dedicated to serving and building prosperity in Alberta’s rural communities.
With 35 years of experience in leadership coaching, keynote speaking, and facilitating the development of today’s business leaders, I am well-qualified to share the formula for both personal and professional success.
On a personal note, I reside on a cattle ranch in Camp Creek, Alberta, sharing my life with my wife of 45 years. Together, we have four children and nine grandchildren. Beyond my professional pursuits, I find joy in travel, spending quality time with family and friends, and hosting gatherings. I received the 2014 Alberta Co-operative Merit Award and was honored as one of the 60,000 Canadians to receive the 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
