Meet Sahiza Hossenbaccus, President of SnapCab and TEC Canada Member

Meet Sahiza Hossenbaccus

Meet Sahiza Hossenbaccus, the President of SnapCab and a TEC Canada member in Toronto, ON. Born in the picturesque country of Mauritius, she discovered her love for accounting as a young girl, working with the cash register in her family’s business. After high school, she joined KPMG Mauritius as a junior audit clerk which solidify her interest in Finance. Pursuing this passion, she moved to the UK after her stint at KPMG Mauritius and earned her ACCA qualification, setting the cornerstone for her career.

Sahiza’s path led her back to Mauritius and then to Canada, where her tenacity transformed an entry-level accounting clerk position into a role as a controller, with a rewarding experience working with companies with divisions in Switzerland and Mexico. More than her professional climb, Sahiza’s story is marked by her role as a dedicated mother and community advocate, always seeking to empower others.

A Global Leader’s Journey to the Top

From her beginnings in a family business in Mauritius, advancing her education in the UK, to having exposure with companies operating in Switzerland and Mexico and significant financial roles in Canada, Sahiza’s career demonstrates her role as a transformative leader.

Upon her 2018 appointment as CFO at SnapCab—a leader in developing architectural products that are flexible, high quality, and safe to use in a variety of environments—Sahiza’s strategic vision and leadership quickly set the stage for her recent promotion to President.

For the past three years, TEC Canada membership has been a cornerstone for Sahiza’s personal and professional growth.

“Joining TEC Canada was a turning point in my career,” Sahiza reflects. “It not only equipped me with the tools to navigate the complexities of leadership but also instilled a confidence that has been instrumental in my growth and the success of SnapCab.”

Discovering TEC Canada

Sahiza’s introduction to TEC Canada came through SnapCab’s founder, Glen Bostock, who has been a member of our international affiliate for over 25 years. His recommendation for her to join TEC Canada arrived as she began to face new challenges in her role.

“In 2020, as I embraced the General Manager responsibilities alongside my CFO duties, I ventured into new professional realms. I was tasked with leading operations and ensuring SnapCab’s financial health across North America, prompting a strategic revaluation.”

Acting on the founder’s advice, Sahiza joined a TEC KEY Executive group in Toronto, ON. This step not only marked a significant phase in her career but also connected her with a community of leaders from non-competing industries who were eager to drive innovation and success collectively.

Her Return on Investment

Sahiza was initially hesitant about the time commitment required by TEC Canada. However, after three years of membership, she affirms that every TEC Canada meeting has been invaluable.

Graduating to a TEC CEO Group

Sahiza’s engagement with TEC Canada has not only provided a platform for personal growth and leadership development but also offered operational insights and strategic focus shifts, especially as she graduated to a TEC CEO group in anticipation of her recent promotion to President at SnapCab.

“My TEC Chair and SnapCab’s founder were proactive about getting me into a TEC CEO group, ensuring I had the right support network stepping into my position. This proactive approach has really paid off, bringing issues I hadn’t encountered in the KEY Executive group to the forefront, like business restructuring and mergers and acquisitions, areas outside my previous experience. It’s proving incredibly beneficial as I navigate my first year in this new role,”
