Leaders need to understand what makes their people tick to lead them to the high performance that they dream about. Self awareness and awareness of others are performance accelerators for individuals and organizations. The Insights Discovery personal profile system gives you unique insights into you, the people you work with and the teams you create. In this workshop we explore the basic scientific principles underlying the four basic personality styles. Having that knowledge firmly established we go to work to understand why people act the way they do under varying circumstances and develop practical strategies to get the best performance from our teams every time. In addition to learning how to connect with people better we will explore strategies to address such areas as negotiation, conflict resolution, managing stress and change leadership. This is a fun and highly interactive session in which participants experience the learning individually, in pairs and as a large group using several different delivery methods. We use adult learning principles that will introduce numerous concepts then engage participants in discussions and activities that will reinforce and entrench these into each participants daily work practices.
We begin with a relevant story that demonstrates the value of understanding yourself and the impact you have on others in a leadership capacity.
We explore the role that perceptions and preferences play in how we see ourselves and others. Our preferences and perceptions are often limiting factors to our effectiveness. Identifying our natural and learned tendancies will have a significant impact on our effectiveness as a leader. Next we build out the logic of personal style profiles. We use the Insights Discovery model. The underlyiing priciples of most profiles are based on the psychology of Carl Yung. Insights Discovery can be crossed over to other profile systems and information provided as such if you let me know in advance if the group uses a particular profile already.
Putting the information to good use, participants examine the impact of personal styles their leadership style and how team dynamics are infuenced by the multitude of personal styles in any organization.
We end the workshop with summary information on how participants leadership influences the effectiveness of change initiatives in the organization. We also explore principles of coaching team members effectively through periods of change appreciating how different personal styles influence the effectiveness of us.
Accompanying Workshop Materials:
1. Using material provided the Chair will ask participants to plot the leaders position on the Insights Wheel and also team members that the participant interacts with. They rationalize why they chose the wheel position of each team member. This entrenches the learning of personal styles.
2. Use the MAX Potential Goal Planning sheet to work through significant goals for the participants. The planning requires a great deal of thoughtfulness anticipating challenges and developing strategies to overcome them in advance of initiating the action plans.
3. Participants will have the MAX Curve document. This will be used to identify and document how people are coping with identified change initiatives. People will be asked to identify an initiative, who is participating, where they are on the curve and what personal style they are. Following the completion of this each person will be asked to develop and document a coaching strategy to move people forward faster and with less disruption to the organization than would otherwise be the case.
All activities are best done in groups of 2-3 but can be done individually depending on the Chair and participant preferences.

The workshop incorporates several key functions of leadership to promote alignment of people in an organization. We explore principles of people management in a very practical way so that everything learned in this workshop can be implemented by leaders immediately in their organizations.
Additionally, the workshop explores three critical elements for successful change management directly related to the alignment of the people:
1. Understand who people are
2. Understand where people are in the emotional journey of change
3. Measurement of accountability for success
We incorporate the science of personality styles to develop a strong understanding of who people are so that we can get to work on understanding how people are likely to react to change. That gives us a stronger opportunity to connect with people at an individual level to make effective use of coaching and motivation efforts.
The emotional journey of change is demonstrated through the use of the “MAX Curve”. Using this six stage model we learn to easily identify where people are in the change journey. Understanding where people are is a crucial piece of information that is often overlooked by leaders.
Finally, we introduce a way of measuring progression throught the journey of change. With the ability to measure comes the ability to introduce accountability to the process of change. This is something that is not typically and accurately measured in most organizations today.
The workshop is highly interactive whether delivered in person or via Zoom or other software. Participants will leave the workshop with a clear path of what to do and how to get maximum engagement and accountability from their people while benefitting from positive change in their organization.

2. Confirm participant understanding of the MAX Curve Stages by completing the Connecting Strategies document which helps participants document individual journeys of change and rationalize why they place them at a particular stage.
