As a passionate entrepreneur with 25 years of hard-won practical experience, Sanjay Gupta understands the vision, tenacity and tolerance for risk that it takes to be a small business owner; he’s lived it. Through his various business ventures, he has amassed the wide variety of skills necessary to start a company from scratch and grow it into a success.
Sanjay began his business life as a sales director but took a leap of faith to start an import/export management business. Tea Connexions grew over 1000 percent in just three years. As he helped customers build global sales and distribution networks, Sanjay gained valuable experience in logistics, warehousing and distribution, and finance. He also honed his skills in sales and marketing, which would become his particular strength and a valuable resource to clients requiring advice on complex sales scenarios.
In 2009, Sanjay successfully exited his tea business and launched a consulting company focused on building value and business growth for clients. This led to other opportunities, including various business development roles, most notably with a disaster restoration company in Western Canada where he increased web traffic by 600 percent and reduced expenses and overhead while growing net profits.
Today, Sanjay leads his digital marketing agency in the area of disaster restoration (Restoration Digital Marketing Solutions) and operates a master distributorship (CitriFresh Distribution). He is also thrilled to be helping other business owners reach their goals as a TEC Small Business Chair. Sanjay notes, “I never had the resources of TEC Canada as I started my small business. Now I can see how valuable it would have been. I want to provide that advantage to my members.”
TEC Group Vision
Sanjay’s group mission is to embrace change and deal with all challenges that members bring to the table, both on a business and personal level. Sanjay welcomes members who seek growth opportunities, and thrive not only on striving for success but on helping others. A sense of curiosity is key, as is a willingness to learn and to take action knowing that every decision may not be successful. “As long as your life’s mission is aligned with your values and your “why,” success is inevitable regardless of the struggles you may face,” says Sanjay.
Sanjay has two children, Saanvi and Shivam, who are his “why” in life. He intends to devote a portion of income derived from his work with TEC to set up a foundation for hearing impaired children.
