Professional

Kevin Johnston is a seasoned sales professional, business coach, entrepreneur and avid world traveller who values practical experience that goes beyond the classroom.

Born and raised in Edmonton, he joined his father to start a distribution business, All-Max Distributors Ltd., at 19 years old. Kevin led the business operations and helped secure and manage their relationship with major clients. Through hard work and experience while on the job, he was instrumental in helping the family business evolve into a leading national distributor.

After working in the family business for 10 years, he transitioned into sales management within the telecommunications, advertising and transportation industries. The corporate years included six years with Trader Publications on their senior leadership team managing many different teams, and helping them transition from a family business culture to a corporate culture. He spent the next 12 years with AGT/TELUS/SuperPages, where he managed many sales teams, eventually becoming the Director of Sales Alberta. As a member of the senior leadership team, he was accountable for $150 million in annual revenue. He helped EDTEL transition to join SuperPages and AGT transition to TELUS. The three words that capture much of Kevin’s career are: coaching, growth and change.

He managed various teams through significant growth and change, developing a passion for coaching business professionals. He quickly learned how to adapt his leadership style to best suit the team dynamics and desired outcome. In 2014, he took his passion for coaching and launched a consulting practice.

As a TEC Small Business Chair, Kevin facilitates his members to find solutions within themselves. He strongly believes in the power of the team, adding, “They know the answer, or a member of the team does; they just need help getting to it.”

Kevin welcomes members who are committed to developing themselves and looking to put a solid plan in place to grow their business. By promoting active problem solving through open-ended questions, he aims to help leaders achieve what they didn’t think was possible.
