Our dynamic technology team is looking for an IT Specialist to provide technical support to our staff and contractor community. The IT Specialist will have excitement for all things IT related including hardware, software, cybersecurity and telecommunications. This role will be responsible for planning, procuring, executing technical support of TEC Canada’s technology infrastructure.  The successful candidate will oversee collaborate with leadership on the technology budget and documentation support.  At TEC Canada we believe in a team environment that supports our values of growth, challenge, caring, and trust. RESPONSIBILITIES

User Support:

  • Set up and maintain PC hardware and software for in-house and contract users
  • Communicate with users via phone, chat, email, and/or a support ticketing system to assess the scope of the problem and determine what, if any, resolution steps users have performed
  • Apply knowledge to assist users in resolving problem in a timely fashion
  • Develop and maintain user training manuals and procedures
  • Provide onsite and remote training as needed
  • Educate and inform leadership, staff, and community on technology and cybersecurity trends

Technical Support:

  • Manage and administer IT infrastructure including networks and servers
  • Manage server software and hardware environment
  • Create and maintain Active Directory user accounts and permissions to ensure effective security measures
  • Administer and provide technical support for enterprise software and hardware solutions including on-site and hosted/cloud-based applications
  • Manage network infrastructure including network, printers, copiers, internet services, telecommunications solutions, etc.
  • Maintain network-wide security measures including group policy, antivirus, antispam, firewall, patch management, backup solutions and disaster recovery

Hardware/Software Analysis & Procurement:

  • Undertake comprehensive needs assessments for business purposes, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assess and recommend industry standard software/hardware functionality and options
  • Develop analysis documentation of needs, assessment, and proposed recommendations re: hardware/software/telecommunication solutions
  • Identify, assess, and select vendors for procurement of software/hardware and services
  • Support preparation of annual IT budget and ongoing effective monitoring

Vendor Relations:

  • Effective sourcing, evaluation and procurement of hardware, software, and IT related services within budgetary guidelines, negotiating effectively for optimal outcomes
  • Initiate and maintain mutually beneficial relationships both internally and externally

General

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with all TEC staff and contractors
  • Support virtual events and webinars as needed
  • Perform basic quality assurance and beta testing for new features in enterprise software solutions
  • Run basic usage analytics reports for mobile and web applications
  • Run various weekly and monthly reports by compiling data from multiple sources
  • Ensure data integrity by monitoring systems and processes
  • Contribute to a collaborative and innovative corporate culture
  • Maintain inventory of company systems, equipment, and licenses
  • Other projects and duties as required

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

This position will appeal to a passionate individual with the following skills and a minimum of 3 years of proven experience in Technical Support or other direct facing customer support role in IT:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems
  • Strong interpersonal and proven communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities while performing quality work in an efficient manner with minimal supervision
  • Strong technical skills in Windows 10, Office 365 Suite and Dynamics 365 or similar CRM systems
  • Good level of understanding of Microsoft Active Directory including GPO, DNS, DHCP, SSL
  • Good level of understanding of TCP/IP and network troubleshooting including VPN
  • Strong level of understanding of Virtual Meeting/Boardroom technology like Zoom and Teams
  • Understanding of LogMeIn Support Assist, KnowBe4, ConnectWise, VMWare, Backupify, and Veeam preferred
  • Excellent time management and problem management skills
  • Capable of moving desktop computer equipment in an office environment (up to 30 lbs)
  • Networking and security certifications are an asset
