Accounting Clerk – 18 Month Contract

Join our Finance team as an AP/AR Clerk and use your Great Plains experience and accounting background to support a growing company that focuses on executive leadership development. Please note: this is currently designed as an 18-month maternity leave contract.

Duties & Responsibilities

Billing, Accounts Receivable and Collections:

  • Assist with accurate generation of invoices, statements and related accounts receivable transactions
  • Professional and effective member relations to accelerate collections of outstanding receivables
  • Data entry in various accounting, CRM and related system support accounting functions
  • Liaison with Chairs and Members with respect to billings, AR and collections
  • Handle daily deposits and bank runs
  • Maintain efficient filing (electronic and hardcopy) as required
  • Maintain and process credit card payments

Accounts Payable:

  • Review/process speaker expense invoices and enter in Great Plains
  • Ensure professional speakers in Canada and USA are paid in adherence with expense policy
  • Manage US tax withholding
  • Assist with processing of other vendor invoices when required


  • Any other accounting support work, projects and duties as assigned by Controller
  • Assist with evaluation of existing processes to identify opportunities to enhance quality and efficiency
  • Reception relief duties as needed

Experience & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience including AP/AR
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field
  • Prefer candidate studying towards an accounting designation
  • Strong working knowledge of Great Plains is essential
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Professional and effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Analytical problem-solving approach
  • Ability to effectively multi-task with strong organizational skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Dynamics etc.)
  • Highly conscientious
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Flexibility with respect to job duties
  • Engaging and helpful personality
  • Demonstrates genuine concern for stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
